Do you like to read?

August 19, 2006

I like to write. At least, I think I do. So this is where I practise. Writing seems to me to be a very important and hard-to-master skill; how can I hope to communicate effectively without the visual clues associated with in-person conversation? I’ve been reading a few pieces on style and suchlike (I highly recommend Strunk and White’s The Elements of Style) and, while it all seems straightforward and (mostly) logical, I think that a lot of practise is in order to really get the hang of composing clear, easy-to-read, engaging prose. Of course, this is also a chance to vent express my opinions on such things as I can find the time to write about, but I wouldn’t take them too seriously if I was you.

I’d prefer to think of this as a series of essays or articles, rather than a blog, but that’s probably just me vainly associating with some higher form of writing. I’ll get off the horse eventually.

Can anyone think of a better title? Globe Tilt is a pretty lame blog title
